It was really a blast this year getting a chance to go to the Hamilton County Fair. I’ve got a lot of good memories of going to the fair as a kid and it was great seeing kids of all ages riding the rides, playing some games, eating some great food and making their memories this year to last a lifetime too.

Now if you’ve read my post about last year’s fair, then you know it was mud city for the Demo Derby. This year, however, the weather was near perfect as a crowd of several hundred were on hand to enjoy a night of bangs, crashes, rips, roars, and a thundering good time.  Two heats were held before the Feature. Nine cars mixed it up in the first heat , with the last five still moving going on to the Feature.

In the second heat it didn’t take long for the drivers to get their shots in with the survivors joining Heat 1 drivers for a chance at the $1, ooo first prize.

After both heats, while the drivers were getting their cars ready for the final onslaught, the fans were treated to a 3-person lawnmower demo derby. It was tremendous fun watching these three young men go all out to give the crowd a great show. After a fast start, Daniel Wilmore was knocked out leaving  Joseph Rush and Nathan Burke to go head to head, with Nathan Burke eventually claiming the huge 1st place trophy. I’ve got a feeling the lawnmower demo derby will be back next year for an encore.

It took a little while to get all the drivers asembled for the Feature but it was definitely worth it as we were all treated to a great show with Luke Bowman finishing in second place and a very exhausted but happy-looking John Klaffer claiming first. Congratulations to all the participants. It looked like they were having a lot of fun out there!
